Human parathyroid hormone (hPTH) is a major physiological regulator of phosphocalcic metabolism. hPTH increases serum calcium concentrations by its actions on kidney (enhancing tubular Ca++ reabsorption and phosphate excretion) and bone (stimulating osteoclastic activity and bone resorption).
